CV Tech I, II or III Department: Heart Team Schedule: Full-time Shift: Varied Shifts Hours: Job Details: * A CV Technologist is a Surgical Technologist with a specialty in cardiovascular surgery. This position is divided into three categories: CV Tech I (uncertified), CV Tech II (certified) and CV Tech III (first surgical assistant). A CV Technologist I assembles case carts for surgical procedures and acts as a scrub assistant for all types of procedures. Duties include: arranging and passing instruments, sponges and sutures; counting sponges, needles, and other instruments as needed. Completes post-operative clean-up and other related duties. The CV Tech I has completed the ORT/ST program and works independently with all cases done in the heart room. A CV Technologist II assembles case carts for surgical procedures and acts as a scrub assistant for all types of procedures. Duties include: arranging and passing instruments, sponges and sutures; counting sponges, needles, and other instruments as needed. Completes post-operative clean-up and other related duties. The CV Tech II works independently in all cases done in the heart room and has attained certification in that role. A CV Technologist III assembles case carts for surgical procedures and acts as a scrub assistant for all types of procedures. Duties include: arranging and passing instruments, sponges and sutures; counting sponges, needles, and other instruments as needed. Completes post-operative clean-up and other related duties. In addition, the CV Technician III will act as a preceptor for the primary teaching of new employees and provides first assistant skills for CV procedures requiring a first assistant.
