Baxter Healthcare - Round Lake, IL
Baxter, a $13B global diversified healthcare company, seeks an IT executive to lead Commercial IT within its Medical Products Division. You'll report directly to the Medical Products CIO, manage a team of approx 50 employees and contractors, and an annual operating budget of $5-10M.
Key Initiatives & Deliverables:
• CRM - continued expansion of Siebel and environments. Manage governance process to ensure commonality and help drive overall system adoption.
• Mobility - extension of CRM and Sales Force Automation environments onto mobile devices. Utilization of iPad or similar devices for digital presentation of product information (electronic marketing)
• Digital Marketing - rationalization of external web development programs and increase internal web development capabilities including utilization of Microsoft Sharepoint.
• Business Intelligence - leverage of global ERP and development of regional specific data warehouse and BI solutions to deliver comprehensive sales and marketing analytics.
• Partnerships with Latin America, Europe and Asia Pacific IT teams to develop and deploy common IT applications supporting the commercial function.

Detailed Summary:
Provide leadership direction for Medical Products IT Strategy and investments, project execution and on-going support. Ensure that effective IT solutions are proactively implemented and supported to address and resolve business problems. Establish customer relationships and review department long-range strategy with business or systems process owners. Responsible for adherence to IT standards and processes, and for managing capital and expense budgets
Direct and manage several teams/programs focused on deploying an approved IT strategy for the Medical Products Commercial organization. Demonstrate strategic thinking, manage relationships in Medical Products and IT, resolve and coordinate complex issues across Medical Products and IT, manage vendor relationships, exhibit strong process skills, accountable for the successful implementation of large-scale global projects, accountable for maintaining a large budget (8MM-12MM of Capex/Opex annually), and strong focus on the customer.
Detailed Description:
•Provide leadership, direction and/or people management for a direct team of employees. Provide indirect leadership as required to Medical Products employee teams aimed at delivering IT solutions. Work in a matrixed and/or global environment. Assess current and future organizational capabilities. Identify and develop mechanisms to bridge organizational capabilities gap.
•Contribute to the overall/strategic direction of multiple Medical Products applications. Ensure Medical Products department goals are linked to short and long term business and IT strategies, and communicate these goals to the functional leadership, Medical Products overall, and other areas of IT.
•Develop and maintain strong collaborative relationships within IT and with Medical Products customers including Senior levels to understand long-term business strategies and develop solutions as it pertains to technology enablement. Communicate to senior management on status, issues, budgets and service problems.
•Anticipate, interpret and resolve complex business, IT and organizational issues, and ensure coordination across departments or teams.
•Manage vendor relationships, including off-shore, and ensure high performance of vendors across projects.
•Define, implement, communicate and drive compliance with Medical Products and IT processes and standards.
•Lead the planning and implementation of large-scale, global projects. Accountable for the timely and cost-effective delivery of these projects.
•Develop and manage budget including operating expenses and capital project expenses.
•Keep current on industry trends in IT and in Sales and Marketing domains. Participate in the research, analysis, selection and implementation of new tools, technologies and/or services.
•Develop, gather and measure relevant productivity metrics, and communicate these metrics to Senior Management on a regular basis. Use the baseline metrics to drive improvement in the organization, applications or processes. Work closely with internal IT constituents (shared services) to define Performance and Availability metrics for relevant IT infrastructure and applications. Communicate these metrics effectively to internal and external stakeholders. Devise improvement plans as required.
•Develop and Maintain in depth Medical Products business acumen.
Job Requirements
Strong team building and talent management skills and the ability to motivate and hold team members accountable to achieve goals. Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities and/or teams across multiple functions. Must be a strategic thinker with strong communication skills, and have strong influencing capabilities with internal and external stakeholders. Proven track record of delivering on commitments. Prudent risk taker. Strong negotiation skills and a strong orientation towards customer service. Requires project management skills, budget/financial acumen, and strong business background. Must be process oriented and be able to define and implement new processes and standards. Must have ability to work closely with software products and service vendors in a global environment. Expertise in Six Sigma or other Process Optimization methodologies is highly desirable. Experience with commercial applications such as CRM, Contract compliance, Sales Analytics, and e-Marketing is preferred.
Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science or a related field preferred.. Must have 10+ years of information systems experience in multiple areas of IT, and 5 years of management experience. MBA or MS a plus. Must have some business acumen in Medical Products area and have experience working in a highly regulated environment, preferably the medical device industry.
