Job Description This position is responsible for overseeing the waste disposal management program for Baxter's Round Lake, IL. facility. The Health and Safety Representative will have the responsibility for the collection, inventory, storage and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous waste materials. In addition this position, under the direction of the Environment, Health and Safety Manager, is responsible for completing regulatory reports for submission to the State and Federal Agencies as well as performing various safety program tasks as needed to support the business function. This position also includes direct management of contractor(s) involved with waste disposal management activities at the facility; Must become a member of the facility chemical emergency response team for hazardous material spill response activities, which involves 24-hour on-call status; Conducting inspections of HAZMAT emergency response equipment and hazardous waste storage areas; Performing industrial hygiene monitoring; Assist in the execution of select EHS programs to assure that Baxter's activities are conducted in compliance with applicable rules and regulations.
Job Requirements
1. B.S. Degree in Occupational, Public or Environmental Health, Chemistry, Biology or related field. 2. 1-3 years in environmental field with specific concentration in EPA hazardous waste regulations. 3. Must have a working knowledge of chemistry and biology. Good interpersonal communication and technical writing skills are essential.
