Expediter - School Food ServiceExpeditor for Gourmet Gorilla Position:Expeditor Reports To: Production Manager Shift Hours: 5:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Location: 942 West Huron, Chicago Illinois 60642 To strive for a sustainable future for our children by providing local and organic school lunches and healthier eating options. Summary: The Expeditor will execute the accurate fulfillment of each days meals and will report to the Production Manager. The Expeditor works with the retherm team and coordinates the packing out of hot and cold meals. The expeditor will ensure all containers are fulfilled according to quantity, quality, size and location. The Expeditor must have exceptional attention to detail, have the ability to work in a high pace, constantly changing environment while ensuring accuracy and timeliness of 2-3,000 meal deliveries. The Expeditor is expected to be an active participant in all aspects of the kitchen from working with the production teams to cleanup. The position also carries the responsibility of supporting the administrative processes of Gourmet Gorilla's HACCP program. The Expeditor will provide accurate documentation of heating and cooling HACCP compliance and will maintain temperature logs to document proper HACCP protocol. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: Ensuring food quality standards by showing a commitment to quality from the execution of SOP from start to finish including tasting the final product. Fulfills all orders according to food containers and staging schedule as communicated by the Director of Operations. Maintain a food safe environment, complying with State, Federal and Gourmet Gorilla food safety policies. Assist in loading the delivery trucks per the packing slips and route schedules. Ability to learn and execute the operation of kitchen equipment in a safe, efficient manner. Adhere to company developed Good Manufacturing Practices by maintaining a clean, organized, hazardous free work station. Observe a safety first environment. Establish a culture of respect, hard work, consistency and effective communication with all team members. Abide by the company “Green” waste, compost and recycling program. Maintains consistency in food quality standards. Effectively communicates to Management any issues or concerns that may affect food safety or quality or logistics. Follows all company policy and procedures as outlined in the Employee handbook. Supports preventive maintenance on all equipment and advises management when repair or maintenance is needed. Performs other duties, as assigned, and follows through on requests in a timely manner. Qualifications 2-3 years culinary experience in a busy foodservice environment. Previous experience in a high volume flight kitchen or school feeding operation a plus. Able to lift 50 pounds and physically perform requirements of job. Advanced knowledge of safe and proper knife and kitchen utensil use. Strong communication and interpersonal skills: Able to work well with others and participate as part of a team.
