Mechanical Designer/Drafter
Makes detailed CAD drawings and models of parts, components, sub-assemblies and assemblies from verbal instructions, sketches, CAD design layouts, customer prints, or other information supplied by the Engineering Manager. Prepares bills of material. Completes minor to moderate design work without supervision.
Makes accurate, fully dimensioned CAD drawings, CAD generated line art for use in graphic artwork, sketches, charts, and data sheets.
Makes drawings of parts, components, sub-assemblies, and assemblies.
Builds product samples for test, UL, CSA, Sales, etc., with non-production material that will be required to build these samples.
Make layouts to check fits, tolerances, apace-use, etc.
Determines proper dimensioning and tolerances for most of the following: A.S.M. parts, stampings, moldings, castings; and welding, riveting, staking and press fits for assemblies.
Assist with label and instruction sheet artwork functions.
Requirements:
2 year degree in Mechanical design or equivalent experience
Solidworks experience required
2 to 5 years 3-D CAD experience.
Proficient with Microsoft Office
Able to communicate in a technical environment both written and oral.
Working knowledge of mathematics, assembly methods, tooling, and materials necessary for the design function.
Familiar with source and use of technical handbooks, vendor publication, charts, and other reference material.
