Description

Georgia-Pacific is currently seeking a Plant Manager to lead and manage approximately 80 hourly and salaried associates at our corrugated box plant in Chicago, Illinois. The Plant Manager should have a strong working knowledge of safety standards and a commitment to safety, as well as strong leadership skills with a demonstrated ability to motivate and hold people accountable.
The responsibilities of the Plant Manager will include:
Managing all aspects of production in a corrugated converting operation.
Ensuring production and delivery of the highest quality products at the lowest costs, consistent with customer requirements, company plans and profit objectives.
Developing new policies, methods and procedures that add value for the operation and/or the facility.
Directly managing 8 Production Supervisors, as well as hourly personnel.
Complying with all company policies and procedures.
EDUCATION
High school diploma is required; college degree preferred
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
5+ years of management/supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment required.
Corrugated/Packaging industry experience strongly preferred.
Solid working knowledge of: equipment servicing; planning/scheduling; mechanical maintenance; plant engineering; quality; and/or corrugator/converting processes and equipment strongly desired.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS ABILITIES
This role regularly requires interpersonal communications such as counseling, directing and delegating, advising, recommending, exchanging information, selling, persuading and influencing, and telephone communications; group communications such as participating in meetings and group discussions and conducting meetings and leading group discussions; and composing written communications such as documentation, internal and external memoranda and letters.
